Aussies shared over $10 spaghetti jaffle being sold at an upmarket Sydney pub

Aussies are divided over a $10 Heinz spaghetti jaffle being sold at an upscale Sydney pub, with some arguing they could make it at home for 49 cents.

The Jaffles are sold at Lil Sis, a chic wine bar at The Abercrombie Hotel in central Sydney.

The bar serves three Jaffle flavors; triple cheese, pastrami, and canned Heinz spaghetti and says they’re the “ultimate comfort food.”

“Feels like a hug, tastes like home. We believe jaffels are the ultimate comfort food, especially after a few wines.”

Would you pay $10 for a Spaghetti Jaffle?

While the wine bar, inspired by the “charming wine caves” of Paris’ neighborhoods, has only garnered good reviews online, some netizens have wondered why the iconic Aussie snack could cost $10.

A can of Heinz canned spaghetti is currently $2 at Coles and Woolworths.

One man said it was proof that “idiots overpay for everything”.

“Put the same can of spaghetti on the same bread and sell it at St. Mary’s [Cathedral] for $2 and those same people wouldn’t touch it,” he said.

Another netizen said the meal would cost about 49 cents to make at home.

“I grew up eating Spaghetti Jaffles, I’m 50 and I still love them! Not sure I’d pay $10 for one, although a kabab could still win after a few drinks at that price,” wrote another.

“Any port in a storm after a few drinks and spaghetti will do well,” said a third.

One woman joked that people were missing the point.

“A can of spaghetti jaffle costs 49 cents. What we have here is something completely different. It’s the Jaffeule Aux Spaghettoire A La Cylindre Du Fer Heinz,’ she said.

‘A gourmet treat that’s worth it.’
