Leeds United seem confident in signing their top target Brenden Aaronson – but only at the end of the season.
That’s according to TEAMtalkwho claims that director of football Victor Orta has traveled to Austria to negotiate with Red Bull Salzburg.
Leeds rejected a first bid of £15m for Aaronson, with their second bid of £20m also unsuccessful.
Aaronson has now told Salzburg that he wants to move to Leeds.
That matches what the Daily Mail reported earlier this month, stated that Aaronson would love to play under Marcelo Bielsa.
The Mail report adds that Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing Aaronson.
Salzburg looks set to allow Aaronson to join Leeds, but there’s a chance; The deal can only be done in the summer.
Salzburg has no intention of selling Aaronson mid-season and will force him to wait until the summer.
It was a huge disappointment for Leeds. They need signings now, signings that can help keep them in the Premier League and out of the relegation zone.
Aaronson is seen as the perfect solution, bringing a natural 10 into Bielsa’s system but still has not really replaced Pablo Hernandez.
Aaronson is quick, skilful and creative, scoring seven assists in 26 games this season, while also scoring three more goals.
At just 21 years old, Aaronson looks set to have a huge future and Orta is hungry for that future to play for Leeds United.
Orta may have signed his first summer contract with Leeds, but can he really agree to that deal now?
Leeds is not safe from a slump and may not be able to afford to commit to £20m worth of deals for months afterward.
Add to this that Leeds are currently in need of signings and Orta faces some sort of dilemma over whether to trigger Aaronson’s summer contract.
