Bedford, Ohio metal plant explosion is ‘mass casualty incident’

A large explosion at a metals plant in Bedford, Ohio has reportedly caused a “mass casualty accident”.

According to News 5 Cleveland, ambulances were pictured at the scene by 1 Schumann & Co., which manufactures brass and bronze alloys.

Emergency services have also requested the development of several medical helicopters, reports FOX 3 Now.

It remains unclear what caused the blast around 2.30pm Monday and how many people were injured.

The Bedford, Ohio blast is just about 70 miles northwest of eastern Palestine, where a poisonous train derailed on February 3. It is south of Cleveland.
