Colby Covington, who was ranked 1st in the UFC, overtook Belal Muhammad.

“Remember the Name” grabbed a big win Saturday night as he topped UFC on ESPN 34 against his second-time opponent, Vicente Luque. Muhammad, who currently sits at 6th in the 170-pound, and No. 5 Luque fought for five rounds.

Muhammad focused on wrestling, as well as his much improved offensive game, to get the best out of the Brazilian. And in the end, Remember Names was awarded the victory through unanimous decision.

With the win, Muhammad not only avenged the 2016 KO loss, he improved his unbeaten streak to eight. He hasn’t tasted defeat since 2019 and Muhammad has beaten the likes of Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and Demian Maia in this current run.

When the official UFC rankings are updated next week, Muhammad will likely break into the top 5 in the weight division. And he is aiming for a fight with Covington to earn himself a title.

“I’m going to stop calling for champions,” Muhammad said after his fight with UFC commentator Daniel Cormier inside the Octagon. “Because nobody wants to call me, give me that shot. So let me find ‘Karen’ Colby Covington, who’s here calling out fifty accounts. Come and fight a real 70 pounder, coward. I am a 70-pound person. I’m winning the matches. I’m not [Jorge] Masvidal from two defeats. I’m not [Tyron] Woodley from five defeats. I’m ‘Bully B’, I’ve had seven wins.

“Come and fight a real challenge, coward.”

Muhammad also shared his interest in the fight week Covington match

Remember that Name is confident that if he finishes the match with “Chaos” he will “overtake” Covington. That’s what he said during the 34th week of UFC on ESPN with MMA Fighting.

Muhammad also won’t shy away from confronting Covington’s trash talk.

Be against me,” said Muhammad. “If the UFC offered me that next after I got this win, I would take it straight away just because my style suits him perfectly. Just being able to slap that kid would be the best thing ever. If it’s contrived and he wants to talk, I’ll make him dumbfounded, because his trash talk is so stupid and it’s already written.

“If it was direct, we would go back and forth, I would make him look really stupid when he tried to use his little things. I don’t take anything personally. I will come back to you harder.

“He’s one of those guys I’ve always wanted. Stylistically, I match him and externally to build I would definitely outdo him. ”

Muhammad continues to climb Welterweight

Victory over Luque was a big feather in Muhammad’s hat and it set him up for another big clash at 170 pounds, whether it was with Covington or not.

Muhammad won seven of his last eight competitions, and the other was deemed banned after he was poked in the eye by Leon Edwards.
