Ben Askren decides to fight Nate Diaz ‘Easy’ in UFC

Before Bellator and ONE welterweight champion Ben Askren ready for one more fight, and he has his eye on one UFC Super star.

Askren announced his retirement from Mixed Martial Arts in November 2019 after suffering consecutive losses in the Octagon, including Askren’s fastest-ever UFC KO. Jorge Masvidal. “Funky” also lost to Demian Maia through the rear ceiling shock absorber.

Askren left the sport with a professional record of 19-2 and no one in the competition, however he returned to action as a boxer when he joined YouTuber Jake Paul in April 2021. Askren and “The Problem Child” were boxed under the Triller Fight Club banner and Funky was eliminated in the first round via TKO.

At the age of 37, Askren happily retired from fighting. However, he told Maddie Levine of MMA Đảo Island in a recent interview that he would consider stepping inside the cage as a mixed martial artist to fight Nate Diaz. Askren and Diaz shoot each other on social media in November 2021, Diaz tweeted that Askren “can’t fight or box” to which Funky responded: “Nate is right, I’m into boxing. He loves MMA. If he wants me to prove it, I can be at the USADA pool tomorrow. It will be fun to hit the last fight of his contract. ”

Askren reassured Levine that he was open to a match-fixing with Diaz inside the Octagon. And for Askren, fighting and defeating Diaz will be an “easy” task.

“At the end of the day, I retired from fighting and I never wanted to train full time again, but man, I think every boxer, a small part of you loves to fight,” says Askren. “You love to fight. So hey, if they (UFC) are going to give me an easy chance, I’ll take an easy one.

“I lost three times in a row. I am due for one. “

Later, Funky said that the possibility of a war was very slim. “Maybe I’ll retire,” Askren said.

Diaz last fought in June 2021, wants to fight as soon as possible

The last time Diaz fought was in June 2021 when he faced 1stweight Leon Edwards in a standout five-round bout at UFC 263. Diaz succeeded late in the bout, narrowly finishing off the man. He in the closing moments of the match. However, that was not enough, and he lost by unanimous decision.

Diaz has in motion to go back inside the Octagon, and he’s closing his eyes Dustin Poirier as a potential competitor. Everyone knows that Diaz has only one fight left on his UFC contract, and it seems like Diaz wants to fight his way into free agency.
