Best Commanders in Rise of Kingdoms

In Rise of Kingdom, players can choose different nations and commanders from historical eras to build their very own civilization. Each nation has specific perks, along with commanders who have unique advantages and disadvantages. The goal is to build a powerful civilization that dominates others, and the only way to achieve that is by choosing the right commanders. Of course, players are curious to know which are the best commanders for Rise of Kingdom. While Commanders can be purchased with in-game transactions, we’ve compiled the list with free-to-play players in mind.

Aethaelfaed is definitely the best legendary commander for free-to-play players for several reasons. You can only acquire her sculptures in Expedition mode. Similarly, this character not only debuffs enemies but also deals high AoE damage. Aethaelfaed is highly underrated and we encourage players to level them up gradually. Her Arrow of Iron skill deals damage to five targets at once, reducing their Attack, Health, and Defense for the next few seconds!

Hannibal Barca

One of the commanders specialized in leadership, Hannibal Barca fits perfectly into the role of the main commander of any army. Armies with two or three types of troops automatically receive a damage boost while Hannibal Barca is at the helm. His Passive Skill Expedition also allows players to gain additional troop capacity. Hannibal Barca’s War Elephant ability is perhaps one of the strongest in the game. This ability not only deals direct damage to targets, but also reduces the target’s damage and defense for the next five seconds.

Ramses II

With a base power of 4,200, Ramses II, the famous pharaoh of Egypt, tops the list of best legendary commanders. On the map, Ramses II increases attack for archer units. If your army consists only of archers, the skill damage taken is also actively reduced. Overall, Ramses II is a versatile commander that lends itself to ranged attacks.

Richard I

Richard I is one of the most popular commanders in the game, specializing in infantry and defense. Troops led by Richard I are very effective in counterattacking and take less damage on the battlefield. Richard I has the ability to withstand massive attacks while healing troops. His active ability, Soul of the Crusaders, heals a portion of wounded troops and applies a debuff to nearly five enemy troops. This debuff reduces enemy troop speed and damage for the next few seconds.

Yi Seong Gye

Yi-Seong Gye is perhaps one of the few commanders in the game strong enough to lead as the main commander or deputy for each nation. Yi-Seong can be paired with Alexander, El Cid, Richard I, Aethaelfaed, and several other high-level commanders. He can deal AoE damage over a long range and attack and destroy multiple enemies at once.
