Bethesda confirms mod support for Starfield

In an interview with a Japanese magazine FamitsuBethesda CEO Todd Howard announced plans for official mod support Starfield. When asked about the possibility of players using mods to improve their experience and add new creatures to the planets, Todd openly stated his ambition to make this happen. However, this will not be the case until 2024. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

When talking to FamitsuHoward explained the following.

With mods, as in the previous works, you can do almost anything. Mod support will be available next year, but we love it too, so we’ll do it in a big way.

Starfield has been in development at Bethesda since 2015. The original idea for the universe came about in 2013. Although the game is already extensive, Howard made it clear that he believes mod support would only improve the overall experience. Although there is no official mod support yet, Nexus Mods already has a dedicated section and players are creating and publishing mods.

Bethesda has a track record of providing mod support for its intellectual properties. For example in both Fallout 4 And The Elder Scrolls V: SkyrimMod support was available.

Starfield was released on September 6, 2023. It’s the first new IP for Bethesda in 25 years.

Starfield is available worldwide for PC and Xbox Series X.
