Main characters of AMC’s “Better Call Saul” Season 6: Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), Jimmy McGill aka “Saul Goodman” (Bob Odenkirk), Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) and Lalo Salamanca (Toni Dalton ).

Well, after a long, hard, intense seven weeks, we’ve finally made it. Part 1 of Better Call Saul season 6 concludes tonight with a very special finale episode. This is the last time we’ll see our beloved characters until Monday, July 14th, as the show’s final season will be half-paused as was the case with Breaking Bad. However, we will likely have a lot to think about during this time.

The last we saw of our characters was Jimmy and Kim having to put their “D-Day” plans on hold after Jimmy realized their impersonations of Rand Casimiro, the chief mediator in the Sandpiper case, weren’t working would. However, Kim was determined to go ahead with the plan, even putting her career on the line to do so.

Meanwhile, Gus and Mike are still on the hunt for Lalo, although they probably won’t find him anytime soon since he’s in Germany now. Determined to drag Gus into Lalo’s failed hit job, Lalo has successfully tracked down a man who worked for Werner Ziegler, Gus’ engineer in charge of overseeing the super lab, and is about to get him to talk. Also, Howard has finally gotten a taste of Jimmy’s ill-gotten gains through his hired private investigator.

Moving on to the mid-season finale, aptly titled “Plan and Execution”:

Season 6, Episode 7: “Plan and Execution”

The midseason finale begins on the street; namely with Lalo exiting a sewer in a manner very reminiscent of his escape from last season’s assassination attempt by Gus. He appears to have a Subaru ready waiting for him, then drives to a local supermarket where he pays for a shower. Then he sleeps in the car, the alarm clock is set for 4 a.m. He then drives the Subaru back to where he found it, climbs back into the sewers, and covers himself.

Inside the underground sewage system, he leads himself to an open drain from which he watches Gus’ laundromat and waits for the sun to come up.

Folks, it looks like we might have another faceoff.

Panicked, Jimmy picks up Lenny – the old man he hired to play Casimiro – from his job at the grocery store under the pretense that he has a role in a scripted film. He then picks up his college-age director while hypocritically lecturing his students on the proper cameras they are allowed to handle, and rushes them to an outdoor spot where they shoot the scene.

In it, Jimmy can be seen presenting “Casimiro,” who now has a broken arm, with what appears to be a large, marked envelope. “More action!” Kim yells after reorganizing the shot, showing that her directing skills are probably pretty inferior to Rhea Seehorn’s.

After processing the photos in a darkroom – very old-fashioned, even for 2004 – Jimmy rushes to a henchman waiting for him in a car. “Go Go!” he shouts, watching the man with those mysterious photos drive off, destination unknown.
