Beverley Callard enjoys the evening with daughter Rebecca at the premiere of her new film A Bit Of Light

She is a successful actress while her daughter is both a talented actress and writer.

And on Saturday, Beverley Callard, 65, was the proud mum as she stepped out with her rarely seen daughter Rebecca, 47, at the premiere of her new film A Bit Of Light.

The duo gave each other a warm hug as they posed for photos together on the red carpet at the Curzon Soho in London during the 30th Raindance Film Festival.

Beverley – who played Liz McDonald on Coronation Street for 30 years – looked handsome in a tailored black suit with lace-up detailing.

Rebecca opted for a demure, high-necked black dress with a bow neckline as she exuded grace.

As well as Rebecca, who shares Corrie star Beverley with her first husband Paul Atkinson, the soap actress is also mother to Joshua Collard, 33, whom she shares with ex-husband Steve Collard.

The new film is an adaptation of Rebecca’s original play of the same name, about a recovering alcoholic and her attempts to build bridges with her estranged children.

It comes after Beverly previously said she has no plans to return to Coronation Street and said she has “no life” while working on the soap.

Speaking to The Sun’s TV Mag, Beverley noted that the scripts aren’t “as good” compared to when she first set foot on the cobblestones in 1989.

She explained, “As an actor you’re afraid to say no to a job, but the scripts came and I thought I just have to really trust my instincts.

“It’s not nine to five, it’s like seven to ten at night and it’s six days a week, it’s really busy and you don’t have a life like it used to be a lot harder when the cast was smaller.”

On the current writing on the soap, she added: “Personally I don’t think the scripts are that great right now, I think we’re overloaded with soap operas which is a shame.”

The former soap star went on to say that casting directors are often “snooty” when it comes to scripts and opened up about how she’s passed on scripts since leaving Corrie.

Beverley added that when she thinks about it, she sometimes wonders if she should have chosen the role.

Last year, the actress confirmed she had closed the door on the ITV soap “forever”.

Beverley admitted she has no plans to ever play the role again and has given Coronation Street bosses permission to kill her character.

Speaking to Sunday Express magazine, she said: “It was a huge decision for me but I think I did it for the right reasons. I felt like Liz had run her course. I would hate to cheat on any fans…I felt like she was lost.”
