Biden must lead the border crisis

As someone who wishes the Biden administration well, I would love to be able to support their immigration policy on this matter. But I can’t because politics has been a mess from day one and the American people know it. The RealClearPolitics poll average on immigration puts public approval at a miserable 35% and disapproval at 59%.

The latest issue concerns Title 42 of the Public Health Code, which gives the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the authority to restrict travel to the United States during a public health emergency. The Trump administration has aggressively used this provision during the pandemic to prevent most migrants from staying in the United States. Much to the chagrin of pro-immigration officials, the Biden administration has continued to enforce it — until now.
