Biden throws cold water on GOP report that Hunter and Hallie got Chinese money

President Joe Biden on Friday dismissed a Republican report that members of his family had received more than $1 million in payments from China, saying it was not “true.”
“That’s not true,” Biden said when asked about it as he left the White House to spend the weekend at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.
He was responding to a House Republican report released Thursday that showed the president’s Hunter Biden, Beau Biden’s widow Hallie and other relatives in the president’s family received more than $1 million in 2017 from an associate who had struck a deal with a Chinese energy agency.
The findings were part of an investigation by the House GOP into Hunter Biden’s dealings and how the president’s son made his money, after he claimed he had used his father’s position for personal gain.

President Joe Biden has dismissed a Republican report that members of his family received more than $1 million in payments from China
The House Oversight Committee, headed by Republican Rep. James Comer of Kentucky, has subpoenaed more than a decade of bank records while investigating the Biden family.
They’ve focused on Hunter Biden’s associate, John R. Walker, for questioning him after years of trawling through his bank records and uncovering a $35,000 payment to Hallie Biden, Beau Biden’s widow.
GOP results said Walker received a US$3 million remittance from Chinese State Energy HK Limited, a company associated with CEFC China Energy, and then distributed US$1.3 million to accounts associated with members associated with the Biden family.
Hunter Biden and Joe’s brother Jim were the others who received part of the money.
Comer wrote to Walker that the panel “investigated President Biden’s involvement in his family’s business practices” and “identified you as a critical witness in the matter and reviewed evidence showing you received millions of dollars sold by a Chinese energy companies and elsewhere”.

The House Oversight Committee has “invited” Hunter Biden staffer John R. Walker for a transcribed interview.

The White House hit back after Republicans subpoenaed bank filings and released documents allegedly showing Hallie Biden received a $3 million cash cut from China. Beau Biden’s widow was identified Thursday as the third member of the first family involved in Rep. James Comer’s investigation into allegations they used their names to profit from business deals
The committee “invites you to participate in a transcribed interview with committee staff,” Comer wrote — in language that came close to open-ended demand but which can be a prelude to a subpoena if a witness refuses to comply to keep.
Democrats were furious Thursday at Comer’s public campaign, with the White House calling it an “assault” on the president’s daughter-in-law.
A spokesman for Hunter Biden’s legal team has blasted the revelations as old news – and said the funds transferred to Hallie Biden were part of “cost-sharing”. Hunter previously admitted he was in a relationship with her at the time.
“Here we go again as Rep. Comer takes something old and tries to make it new by wrapping it in a wild and baseless right wing conspiracy,” the spokeswoman said in a statement provided to DailyMail.com .
“Hunter Biden, a private individual with every right to pursue his own business endeavors, has joined several business partners to seek a joint venture with a legitimate, privately held energy company in China. As part of this joint venture, Hunter received his share of bona fide entry fees, which he shared with his uncle James Biden and Hallie Biden, who he was dating at the time, and shared the costs. The accounts so dramatically listed by Rep. Comer belonged to Hunter, his uncle and Hallie — no one else,” the spokeswoman said.
The White House has previously denied any involvement by President Biden in his family’s business practices.
The material released by the panel showed nothing illegal or inappropriate. But the bombshell memo shows Republicans are expanding their investigation into whether the Biden family used their names to profit from ventures around the world.
Hallie, who had dinner with Joe in Delaware on Friday, was married to Beau until his death from cancer in 2015 and then had a relationship with Hunter from March 2017 to 2019.
The transactions Comer cited are from 2017, after Beau’s death, when Hallie Biden and Hunter Biden were romantically involved.
The GOP is also investigating what services, if any, Walker or family members provided to receive the money from China.
In the memo obtained by DailyMail.com, Comer asked “why Hallie Biden – who publicly works as a school counselor – received money from Rob Walker, the account holder who received the initial deposit from the Chinese firm.
And the Republican-led oversight panel hit back again on Friday, releasing images of the financial transactions involving Robinson Walker LLC, a company founded by Hunter Biden’s associate.

House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) called it an investigation into “President Biden’s involvement in his family’s business practices.”

The letter “invites” Walker to participate in a transcribed interview

Hallie Biden, seen here with Beau Biden, received $35,000 from Biden employee John Robinson Walker, according to Rep. James Comer. Comer, who has subpoenaed bank information as House Oversight chairman, says Walker’s firm received $3 million from a Chinese firm in 2017
The Board of Supervisors tweeted: “Hunter Biden did not “share” any funds, as his attorney claims. The cables came directly from Rob Walker’s company, Robinson Walker LLC, to various Biden relatives and companies, including Hallie Biden. Here are two cables to James and Hunter Biden’s companies.
A second image showed a $25,000 wire transfer to Hallie Biden on March 20, 2017.
Oversight also flagged payments to an “unknown” Biden, who the panel said received incremental payments totaling more than $1 million. Comer had also quoted this unidentified person after publishing a “third” Biden in Fox News interviews before Hallie Biden was revealed as the recipient of the $35,000 — a much smaller sum than went to others after the first transfer .
The White House and House Democrats have called the investigation a cruel investigation, noting that Walker’s $3 million was previously known.
“Following a sickening attack which lamented that the President’s late son Beau was never prosecuted during his lifetime, Congressman Comer has now decided to pursue Beau’s widow,” White House spokesman Ian Sams said. to DailyMail.com in a statement this week.
“Rather than bizarrely attacking the president’s family, perhaps House Republicans should focus on working with the president to get results for American families on important priorities like cutting costs and strengthening health care,” he continued.
Comer was also blown up by Rep Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the oversight board.
“Chairman Comer’s memo proved once again that after four years of investigations by Senate and House Republicans into Hunter Biden, no connection to the President of the United States or any government official whatsoever has been found,” Raskin said in a statement.
A spokesman for the Oversight Democrats accused Comer of creating the false “impression” that Hallie Biden was involved in getting money from China by not noting another transaction, although she did not provide information about what the payments were for .
“After issuing an overly broad and invasive subpoena for 14 years of financial filings, Chairman Comer has issued a memo based on speculation and a handful of cherry-picked facts to spark renewed interest in a previously reported transaction,” the spokesman said the democrats .
