Loud explosions shook Kyiv early Friday as Russia threatened to escalate attacks on Ukrainian command centers in response to alleged attacks on Russian territory, with both sides preparing for a new phase of the ground war, this time in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine .
The Russian Defense Ministry said it hit a factory near Kyiv that makes long- and medium-range missiles and anti-ship missiles. The day before, Ukraine said it had hit the Moskva, the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, with a cruise missile attack.
