A dog walker who discovered Nicola Bulley’s missing phone thought ‘that’s not right’

The man who said his name was Ron went public this morning, three weeks after the mortgage adviser went missing in St Michael’s on Wyre.

By an extraordinary coincidence, he appeared on TV walking his dog while Sky News was recreating Ms Bulley’s walk.

He confirmed he had given a full statement to police after finding Ms Bulley’s phone on the bank around 9.30am on January 27.

Ron said he doesn’t know Ms. Bulley but recognizes her dog Willow from previous walks

He said, ‘Every day something new comes out, doesn’t it?’

He didn’t know Ms. Bulley, but recognized her dog, Willow.

“I’d seen both of Willow’s owners walk that dog in the past, but even though I knew their faces, I didn’t know their names,” he said.

Ron added that when he first found the phone he thought “somebody went to the bathroom”.

He added: “I looked at this red brick building here and I thought that’s not right.

“Then it was just a series of things that happened, you know. Through the wallpaper on the phone we found out who the couple was and the school was contacted and [her partner] Paul has arrived.«
