The drama isn’t over yet: “Teen Mom 2” star Briana DeJesus could sue Kailyn Lowry for more than $120,000, the legal fees she had to shell out while defending herself in the defamation case.

In June 2021, Lowry sued DeJesus because she said she was arrested for domestic violence. A judge dismissed the lawsuit on April 18, saying there was insufficient evidence to show that DeJesus acted with “actual malice.”

DeJesus may have won the case, but she’s not done with her victory lap. The Teen Mom 2 star wrote on Instagram“Kail went after me (legally) and now I’m (legally) going after her on #LinkinBio for FULL LETTER FROM MY ATTORNEY.”

Randazza sent a letter to Lowry’s legal team which was shared by Celebuzzwhere he said DeJesus wanted a refund of the $120,096.87 in legal fees she paid.

“Under Florida’s anti-SLAPP statute, the court is required to order Ms. [Briana] Soto her attorney’s fees and expenses. I am writing to see if we can agree on the payment of fees before proceeding with the filing of our application,” the letter reads Celebuzz.

“MS. Lowry may be tempted to appeal the court’s decision; needless to say, we do not believe such an appeal will ultimately succeed,” Randazza continued, per Celebuzz. “Worse for Ms. Lowry, if she ultimately fails to overturn the court’s decision, she will be awarded a substantially higher fee since any fees incurred by Ms. Soto in connection with an appeal in this matter are taxable to Mrs Lowry.”

The letter ends with Randazza saying they are open to reducing proposed planned payments unless it is “inappropriate”.

DeJesus vowed to get all her money back. “You bug me if you think I’m dropping anything lol I want every penny back plus some if need be. It may have just ended for you, but it’s just begun for me,” she tweeted.

Lowry said the judge’s decision was ‘unfortunate’

Lowry was not pleased when she learned that she had not won her lawsuit against DeJesus.

“Although today’s verdict is unfortunate, I have to respect the judge’s decision. That being said, I stand by my truth and the information that has been spread about me was not and still is not true,” Lowry said wrote on Instagram.

“I want to thank my legal team for fighting for me and I look forward to life after this trial so I can once again focus my energies solely on my boys and future business endeavors.” She added.

Why the judge dropped the case

In part of the judge’s decision, he claimed that DeJesus — aka Briana DeJesus — did not defame Lowry because she was actually arrested after an incident involving her ex-boyfriend Chris Lopez and an argument over her son’s haircut.

“Lowry was arrested on allegations that she hit Lopez at his mother’s home in connection with her child’s haircut,” the judge said in his decision. “The mere addition of Soto’s statement of ‘breaking in and entering’ does not change the substance of the statement that Lowry was arrested.”

“It was widely circulated that Lowry had been arrested for domestic violence and Soto’s comments on the matter were essentially true,” the judge continued. “Lowry’s reputational damage, if any, had already occurred when the incident was reported by the news media.”
