The star, who is now 42, said it was “brilliant as hell” to be turning into her 40s.

“It really means stepping into a chapter of life, feeling supported, empowered, liberated and able to choose as we all are now,” she explained.

“To be a little more aware of where we put our energy and to really engage with things that nourish us and that matter to us, and to recognize the value of our own energy instead of just giving it away.”

Brooke famously joined Neighbors as a teenager in the ’90s, which was her breakthrough role.

Speaking at a Foxtel event last year, she said the Aussie soap opera is a “critical stepping stone” in her career.

“It literally popped out of the school bus into the public consciousness like it was huge,” she said of joining Neighbors as a teenager.

“I remember when the opportunity presented itself, my family had no prior experience in this industry,” she said.

Brooke recalled how, when her mother Jane was offered the role of Anne Wilkinson, she called a woman on the Actors’ Council to ask what they should do.

“Somehow I don’t know [if it was] the White Pages, but my mom found her and called her and said, ‘What should I do? Should I let my daughter take advantage of this opportunity?”

“And it’s been repeated many times — it’ll end up on a fridge magnet or something — but my mum always reminds me that she said, ‘[Neighbours] will give her a chance to have opportunities, not just dreams.” And it certainly has.”

Brooke rose to fame at the tender age of 16 playing Anne Wilkinson on the soap opera.

She won a Logie for Best New Talent and stayed on the show for four years before defecting to star in crime drama Water Rats.
