Bruce Willis’ wife reveals mental health ‘toll’ after actor’s aphasia diagnosis

Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming spoke about her mental health in a recent interview after her husband was diagnosed with aphasia last month.

News of Bruce’s health was the first announced by his daughter Rumer Willis, whom he shares with ex Demi Moore.

While the whole family has come together to support him through this difficult time, Emma is finding it difficult to take care of herself.

Emma Heming opens up about her mental health

Taking care of an entire household can be exhausting and it’s especially hard for Emma who has to take care of not only Bruce but also her children and her business.

In a conversation with The bump, Emma said: “I struggle every day to make time for myself. I put my family’s needs ahead of my own, which I don’t think makes me a hero.

“This level of caring for everyone else in my household had taken a toll on my mental health and my overall health, and it didn’t help anyone in my family.

She said exercise helps her “disconnect” as it makes her “feel good overall.”

A look at her blended family

Bruce married Emma Heming in 2009.

Emma then said that she had a “comfortable and fun” Relationship with Bruce’s ex Demi and her husband Ashton Kutcher when they were married. Bruce even said they were at a “tribe”.

Their relationship surprised people as not all former lovers like Demi and Bruce connect.

In response to that, Bruce called: “It got a lot of interest because everyone can understand resentment and envy when a marriage breaks up, but they don’t understand how I can get along with my ex like that.”

“Demi and I have chosen to put the kids first and we’re really lucky to turn out to be all having fun together,” he continued.

Aphasia is a condition that affects a person’s ability to communicate. It can affect either their speech or their ability to write, or both.
