The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could make another big splash as Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports sees Tom Brady’s team as one of the top potential landing spots for Odell Beckham Jr. with a team as Beckham made a full recovery from an ACL injury he sustained during the Super Bowl. Robinson cites Beckham’s relationship with Brady along with Gisele Bundchen as the main reasons Beckham may have been attracted to Tampa Bay.

“If OBJ goes out, say he rides it, he looks healthy, he still hasn’t signed and is like, ‘Hey, I’ll be back in November, I’m running,’” Robinson explained in a June 15, 2022 episode of the podcast “You Pod to Win the Game”. “I think if Tampa Bay is where they expect it to be in November, I absolutely think Tampa Bay is the kind of team that can say, ‘Hey man, let’s do this. Let’s get this. ‘

“And Tom Brady and Odell Beckham Jr. very friendly. They have a really good relationship. Gisele and OBJ are close, they are really good friends. And I think Tom is very influential when it comes to people who are in his circle, okay, and OBJ is also in Tom’s circle. “

OBJ on Brady: ‘He was there like a mentor, like a big brother’

The Browns released Beckham last November, and recipients were quick to respond as this is the main reason the Rams won the Super Bowl. Beckham scored 27 tackles for 305 yards and five touchdowns in eight appearances with Los Angeles last season. Before the most recent Rams-Bucs playoff game, Beckham discussed his close relationship with Brady.

“He’s the guy who gives me insight whenever you want to chat,” Beckham explained in a January 21 interview with NBC Sports’ Chris Simms. “He was there like a mentor, like a big brother and like I said, I really [felt] like whether I know or not. It’s like he’s someone I watch all the time, and no, I used to dislike him, because he always wins or he’s going to beat my team.

“The Rams are my favorite team, and he beat the Rams, and it was like, there’s all the stories behind it. But just to be able to sit there and, you know, we’re watching, one of a kind. Just to be able to look at him, you know, go to work.”

Tampa Bay has about $12.5 million in space left

Robinson points out that Beckham could wait until November to sign with a team when he is fully fit to play. Buccaneers have a few question marks in their recipients despite the plethora of talent. Mike Evans is back as the team’s WR1, but Chris Godwin is recovering from a season-end ACL injury.

Tampa Bay is still looking to fill the void left by their unresolved relationship with Antonio Brown. The Bucs signed former Falcons Opener Russell Gage in hopes the player could become the team’s WR3.

The Buccaneers have about $12.5 million in the remaining cap space, according to Spotrac, which leaves the team with room to make mid-season with Beckham. Time will tell if Brady the recruiter can help Bucs add another star to the roster.
