Buccaneers Rumors: Tom Brady Sends Text About Bruce Arians

Brady Arians

Tom Brady and Bruce Arians chat during their knockout game against the Buccaneers last season.

More than two weeks after retiring, Tom Brady got a new head coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when Bruce Arians announced he was leaving the game. The Arians will instead move into an advisory role in the Tampa Bay front office with former defensive coordinator Todd Bowles taking on the role of the new Bucs head coach.

At least, the timing of this action is also curious because of rumors of tension between Arians and Brady. Amid speculation that Brady had something to do with the Arians’ decision, the legendary quartet posted a lengthy Instagram message praising his former head coach.

“Thank you BA for everything you have done for me and our team,” Brady noted at the top of his March 30 post. “You are an incredible man and coach, and it is a privilege to play for you. You are a true NFL legend and a pioneer for all the work you have done to make the league more diverse and inclusive.”

Arians quickly responded with a message of his own along with an emoji of his signature drink.

“Thanks brotha 🥃,” Arians said in the comments.

Brady knew Arians’ plans within a day of announcing he would play in 2022: Report

Early indications of Arians’ decision did not surprise Brady. Based on Rick Stroud of Tampa Bay TimesBrady learned that Arians planned to retire within a day of announcing that he would return to the field in 2022. The team went on to insist that Arians’ decision had nothing to do with his relationship with Brady.

“Bucs QB Tom Brady has been informed Bruce Arians plans to step down and Todd Bowles will succeed him as head coach the same day or the day after QB announces he will retire, @TB_Times has announced. know,” Stroud tweeted on March 30. “The team insists it has nothing to do with Brady’s decision.”

NBC Sports’ Peter King broke the news of Arians’ decision and asked the longtime coach about Brady’s potential involvement in his surprising move. Arians admits there have been times of conflict but insists it makes no difference to any other player. The former Buccaneers coach noted that Brady is “very supportive of what I’m doing.”

“No,” Arians told King during the March 30 rollout. “No. Tom is very supportive of what I’m doing. I mean, I’ve been in conflict with every player I coach because I’ve eliminated it. them out, including him. Great relationship off the pitch.”

Brady on Arians: ‘Smart, Tough and Loyal’

Brady went on to praise the Arians for being “intelligent, tough and loyal” during their time together. The Bucs defender noted that he is delighted that the Arians will be able to “spend well-deserved time” with his family.

“Smart, tough and loyal are just a few words to describe your style,” adds Brady. “I will always remember the conversations we had when you hired me two years ago and all the things we discussed came true 💯. We all benefit from your leadership and guidance and I am very proud of all that we have accomplished. You were a very important part of the decision to join Bucs and I am forever grateful.

“I am so glad that you will be spending so much deserved time with your loving and supportive family who have given so much to our community. Congratulations on a great coaching career but more importantly, you have positively impacted me and everyone in the game of football ❤️❤️❤️. ”

The timing of Arians announcement is curious

We may never know the exact details of what goes on between Brady’s 40 days of retirement and his change of heart. Similarly, Arians’ decision to retire after Brady has not yet retired can be random. However, the timing did not work to quell rumors that there was tension between Arians and Brady. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio finds it hard to believe Brady isn’t involved in this change.

“Really, if Brady was going to come back when the Arians weren’t, Brady would NEVER admit it,” Florio noted on March 30. “Neither will The Buccaneers. And the changes Brady is looking forward to could very well include the biggest change that could happen to the coaching staff.

“Put it this way. Arians’ departure was either tied to Brady’s return, or it was all just a coincidence. Most would believe it wasn’t a coincidence. .”
