Buffalo rallies to rescue a 64-year-old man amid a tragic snowstorm

As the tragic snowstorm With recently bombed western New York continuing to make headlines, we must acknowledge how Sha’Kyra Aughtry’s heroic actions helped keep a vulnerable man alive.
Sha’Kyra’s Facebook Live: “We need to figure this out as a community”
As I keep going live Facebook, Sha’Kyra told viewers how she cared for a 64-year-old frozen man named Joey, who was described as disabled, after she found him in the snow. She shared that she spotted him at 6:37 a.m. on Christmas Eve after hearing him screaming for help and she needed help to get him to the hospital.
“You all have to come and get him. I don’t care who comes to get him, but you all need to get this man some help… It’s a situation I can no longer handle.”
She emphasized that despite the conditions, the community needs to come together and help Joey.
“I just need about 10 people who can carry it… We need to figure that out as a community. I can not anymore. I can’t let this man lose his life in my house. I did everything I could do. This man needs help.”
Sha’Kyra continued to plead with the parishioners to share her request and help medicate the man, and that is exactly what happened.
Good Samaritans come and offer help
Less than an hour after her first Facebook Live, Sha’Kyra delivered one To update. Numerous parishioners plowed through the snow to reach Joey, and Sha’Kyra was right at his side on the drive to the hospital.

Sha’Kyra Aughtry says she just ‘prepaid’ it
While Joey recovered in intensive care, he was joined by his sister – Yvonne White – and Sha’Kyra CNN to further reflect on the situation.
Yvonne expressed how grateful she was that Sha’Kyra stepped in to save Joey. She also beamed at how Sha’Kyra, a total stranger, showed so much compassion for Joey in his time of need.
In return, Sha’Kyra expressed that she is only “upfront” which is what she was raised to do.
“My family always taught me to have compassion, and I did. I just had to jump in and do what I could do.”
