Both Sensex and Nifty followed weak global market signals on the higher-than-expected US CPI inflation figure for January and started Wednesday’s session on a soft note. Most sector indices traded in negative territory.

“General market sentiment remains cautious to negative as rising inflation levels revived fears of further rate hikes, which could further deteriorate economic health,” said Prashanth Tapse – Research Analyst, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities.

Technically, Nifty’s strength can be seen above 17973 with aggressive bullish targets at 18300 with a two-week perspective, he said.

On Tuesday, Nifty had formed a long bull candle on the daily charts as it surpassed its falling supply trend line by connecting all swing highs of 18887, 18696 and 18201. Now it needs to hold above the 17888 zones to move up to 18018, then 18081 zones while placing supports in the 17850 and 17777 zones, Chandan said
