A new line of clubs is good, but two is even better.

On Tuesday, Callaway announced the release of two new versions of its Callaway Apex series: irons and utility woods.

To coincide with the release of the latest Callaway Apex line of irons, the Callaway engineering team has also updated their popular Apex UW utility wood for improved performance and more consistent ball flight.

For those who need a refresher, the Callaway UW was engineered to offer the best of both worlds, combining fairway wood and hybrid characteristics to create a racquet with neutral ball flight and precise distance control for experienced players.

“It’s a very accurate racquet designed to produce neutral ball flight so players can hit it in any direction they want, even on different trajectories,” said Brian Williams, vice president of Callaway R&D.

What’s new in the Apex UW?

From an internal technology perspective, the Callaway UW 2023 has been upgraded to incorporate popular technologies from the Paradym line – including Batwing technology to stiffen the body and generate more ball speed on off-center hits.

This goes hand-in-hand with the AI-engineered C300 maraging steel face, which adds flexibility across the face and stabilizes ball speeds for greater distance control.

Externally, the address-wise look is very familiar to the previous model based on feedback from Tour players and Callaway’s extensive pro team, but when you flip the clubhead things quickly change.

The UW sole uses Callaway’s Cutwave design to optimize turf interaction in varying lies and conditions – and helps further improve center of gravity.

price and availability

The Callaway Apex UW retails for $299 and comes standard with the Mitsubishi MMT 70 or 80 gram graphite shaft. It will be available in 17°, 18° and 21° lofts (right-handed only).

The new Callaway Apex UW and Apex Irons will be available for pre-order starting August 18th and in retail starting September 8th.
