Callum Wilson says a West Ham player really needs to ‘try something different’

Speaking of Footballer’s Football PodcastCallum Wilson opened up about Michail Antonio’s current form ahead of the Hammers’ game against Lyon.

The Jamaica international has had a hot spell in front of goal lately. He has only scored one goal in 2022 and that was on New Year’s Day.

Antonio can’t buy a goal at the moment and Wilson says the forward needs to try something else on his podcast.

Wilson spoke about Antonio and his misfortune.

“Maybe you need to change your preparation, something you could change before the game. I rooted for you but I just can’t see it happening. If I could bet on soccer, I would bet you wouldn’t score! Try something different, you’re playing against a European team,” Wilson told Antonio.

Antonio certainly needs to make a change and perhaps the most important thing is that he regains his confidence.

Antonio is a player who is at his best when he plays with a smile on his face and lately it seems like the pressure of a top four race has gotten to him a bit.

He needs to play his way again and take some weight off his shoulders.

Easier said than done, of course, but Antonio will need to find a way to get back in the zone and back to the goals if the Hammers are to progress in the Europa League.
