Calm, pleasant weather today before a cold rain Thursday

TODAY: Mostly sunny, calm. high 42
TONIGHT: Clouds gathering, dry. low 27
THURSDAY: A light winter mix starts from 07:00 to 10:00, then a steady, cold rain until the afternoon. hello 45
FRIDAY: Morning rain with mixed snow, afternoon windy and getting colder. Hello 48 (falls through the day).
Today is a calm and sunny day before the big cold front arrives and it rains. The sun should hold in the mix with very little wind. The highs are around 42°, our warmest day without rain this week! Tonight it will be colder with low temperatures from the high 20’s to near 32°. It may not cool as much as expected due to thickening cloud cover ahead of moisture penetration.
From tomorrow through Friday, there’s the active weather we’ve been talking about since last week. In fact, there are similarities between this storm and the one that rolled through last week. This will be a sustained rainstorm for central Pennsylvania that could drop 1-2″ of rain on the area. It can be booked through winter rainfall, but not much. The first part will bring some sleet or brief freezing rain on Thursday morning before turning to light rain for most of the day. In fact, periods of wet snow and sleet can last longest in the higher elevations of Franklin, Mifflin, Juniata and Perry counties. Otherwise this is mainly a rain shower. The rain will continue at times until Thursday evening.

The second part of Friday morning’s storm will be the opposite as it begins as a rainy spell or line and may end as a brief snowy spell.
