The storm at the end of the week brings mostly rain, then a deep cold for the Christmas weekend…
TODAY: Partly cloudy, windy. Hello 36. Winds: W 10-15 mph. Gusts to 25 mph.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. lot 25
TUESDAY: Partly cloudy, cool. hello 38
The weekend was calm and cool. The weather will be pretty much the same to start this week before Christmas. Seasonally cool and dry weather will prevail through Wednesday. With clouds passing by, it will be a bit windy at times today. There will be more sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs falling into the low 40s by Wednesday afternoon. By the way, winter officially begins on Wednesday at 4:47 p.m.
We continue to track an upcoming storm for later this week. This will be a sustained rainstorm for central Pennsylvania that could drop 1-2″ of rain on the area. It can be booked through winter rainfall, but not much. The first part could begin as snow or a wintry mix Thursday morning before turning to rain for most of the day. The rain will continue at times until Thursday evening. The second part of Friday’s storm will be the opposite as it begins with rain and may end with a brief spell of snow. The keyword for the wintry parts of this storm: short.
We’ll be able to get even more specific as the week progresses and more data becomes available. However, the core message will hardly change. Rain for Central PA from this storm and those who dream of a white Christmas must keep dreaming. Behind the storm, the Christmas weekend is looking cold. Both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will see highs in the 20s. Santa will have a pretty cold ride through Central PA on Saturday night as the lows fall into the teens. It’s going to be windy too! So, behind the rain, wrap up for Christmas. It’s going to be the coldest in years!
