Speaking of Highbury Squad YouTube channelKevin Campbell spoke about Granit Xhaka after his article in The Players’ Stand.

The midfielder opened up about his struggles with the Arsenal fanbase over the years and has been very open about his feelings.

Xhaka was clearly busy, but Campbell wasn’t very happy with his approach, claiming his behavior was sometimes unacceptable and that he victimized himself because of his ego.

Campbell spoke about Xhaka’s article.

“It’s no surprise because Xhaka has a high self-esteem, he does, a very high self-esteem, and it was like he was the victim. Listen, anything to do with your family, this abuse, that’s out, we’re going to support it 100% because that’s not right,” Campball said.

“I’ve agreed with him on that part since day one. But if you play for Arsenal and you disrespect yourself by reacting to the fans and then have the gall to throw off the jersey and the captain’s armband, you’ve made yourself a hate figure, let’s say it correctly. What other players have done that and carried on like they own the place? It’s madness.”

Emotionally

Xhaka and certain sections of the fanbase will never get along and that’s because of how emotional football can be.

As Campbell says, Xhaka didn’t respect the club that day against Crystal Palace and in the eyes of some, that’s just totally unacceptable.

For some football is a hobby or pastime, for others it’s an all-encompassing part of their identity and if you love Arsenal you won’t tolerate that kind of disrespect towards your club.

Campbell says Xhaka has made himself a hate figure and unfortunately he’s right, fans don’t forget incidents like this and unfortunately there are some supporters he can never win over.
