Well, now they have it in the form of their hard-hitting 28-year-old, who has stayed away from the treatment room this season.

Campbell spoke about the player’s transformation and how it would never be easy as he traded La Liga for the Premier League for the first time. as he told the Highbury Squad.

“I think don’t forget that before he went to AFCON that season, he was playing brilliantly,” Campbell said. “Sometimes these foreign players take a while to adjust.

“It’s easy for us to say, ‘He’s a good player. We saw how well he played at Atletico, he should just carry that over to English football. He had trouble keeping fit over here. There have been injuries.

“Obviously the physical level is higher than in Spain. It’s technical.

“At the end of the day, anyone watching Thomas Partey now can see the class and quality he brings to the team. I said who is our main player? I think he is our most important player. He not only protects the back four, but also brings the ball forward.”

Arsenal have yet to get over that Champions League line to show their rewards for a good season.

It’s been a long time since the Gooners have had much to celebrate but apart from their opening three Premier League games this young and dynamic side is improving by the minute.

Partey could argue that he is the most important because without him the balance of the team becomes uneven.

The young central defender duo Ben White and Gabriel can grow with their defense at the top, while the Ghaninan alongside the experienced Alexandre Lacazette also let Arsenal’s young guns play in the last third.
