Captain Lee reacts to Kate Chastain’s pregnancy news

Below Deck star Captain Lee Rosbach is thrilled to hear the news that his former chef Kate Chastain is having a baby.

During talk to people During an interview published Dec. 20, Rosbach shared how he felt about her announcement.

“I couldn’t be happier for them,” Rosbach told the outlet. “I have no doubt that she will be a great mother.”

Kate Chastain has compared Rosbach and his wife to “an extra set of parents”.

While on Below Deck, Kate Chastain and Captain Lee Rosbach had a fairly close relationship, and they’ve maintained that since the former Chief Stew left the show in 2020. Chastain lives near Rosbach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“They live in Fort Lauderdale and they’re amazing,” Chastain said of Rosbach and his wife during a November 2022 appearance Podcast by Brandi Glanville. “His wife invites me to dinner. It’s like having an extra pair of parents down there. He probably calls me once a week, twice a week, and it’s kind of like your parents. Your dad is calling, you have a missed call and you’re feeling like guilt, like, ‘Oh god, I have to call my dad back,’ or whatever, so yeah, I talk to him all the time.”

While it’s been a few years since Chastain left Below Deck, Rosbach took a little getting used to. When speaking to HollywoodLife In April 2020, he shared how he felt about Chastain’s departure at the time.

“That was from left field,” Rosbach told the outlet at the time. “I didn’t see that coming at all. I was totally blown away. Kate called me and it was a bittersweet thing. She let me know she wasn’t coming back, but she figured it was time to move on.”

Rosbach continued of his chief stew: “She has bigger and better things to do and I was happy for her. But I was sad in the same breath because she’s a valued member of my team and a valued member of Below Deck and the show, so big footsteps for someone to fill, or try, yeah. I miss Kate.”

Rosbach also revealed the qualities he was looking for in a chief stew.

“Fast, can think quickly and [someone] that I don’t have to babysit,” Rosbach said. “Here’s your job, here’s your tools, now get your job done. When you come to me for every little thing. And if I have to do my job and your job, of course I don’t need you, so I’m looking for someone who can stand on their own two feet and function well.”
