Lauren Manzo reveals her recent weight loss.
Caroline Manzo’s daughter shared a candid post about her weight loss struggles and how hard work has allowed her to take control of her health.
Lauren Manzo, who previously starred in The Real Housewives of New Jersey when her mom was a full-time star, said she’s been “gluten and dairy free for over a year” and that it’s “changed” her life in the big scale.
“I still have a long way to go and want to lose more weight/get in better shape, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come since that first photo in 2020. Friends who also love food but always make sure to cook gluten and dairy free when I’m over, or always do little things like cook captioned an Instagram post that consisted of before and after photos.
Here’s what you need to know:
Lauren Manzo previously had weight loss surgery
In 2011, Lauren Manzo had weight loss surgery. After struggling with her weight for years, she met with a doctor and ultimately decided that abdominal band surgery was the best thing for her. According to the Cleveland Clinic, a surgeon essentially ties off the stomach, thus limiting how much a person can eat. After all, the stomach should shrink.
“I hated myself. I was depressed,” Lauren Manzo said Us Weekly in June 2012. She lost 20 pounds after surgery and another 10 in the months following a lap belt fitting.
“It’s not a miracle button that lets you eat whatever you want. . . For a while I wanted to try to lose weight on my own. I like food. I can’t drink liquid protein for the rest of my life. I have now learned many great ways of cooking. . . I have great willpower,” she explained.
In her February 2023 update, Lauren Manzo said that her lap band was actually removed in 2020.
When someone asked in the comments section what prompted the former reality star to remove the band, She answered“It slipped, which is super dangerous.”
“It’s no secret that I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life. Not long after the photo on the left, I decided that I needed to get healthy not only physically but mentally as well. I started going to therapy, exercising, started seeing a functional medicine doctor (thanks to you for recommending functional medicine instead of a gut health doctor), figured out what was wrong with my body, and healed it all up addressing the problem naturally from the root rather than masking it with prescription drugs for IBS like many doctors have tried,” her Instagram caption read.
The photos she shared were taken on her daughter’s birthday, exactly three years apart. Lauren Manzo said that one day she would like to share everything she has done that has changed her life.
Lauren Manzo received support and positive feedback from Instagram users
Lauren Manzo and her husband Vito Scalia welcomed their first child together in 2017. according to People magazine. The couple named her Marchesa Anna Scalia, calling her “Markie” for short.
As Lauren Manzo adjusted to life as a mom, she also noticed changes in her body that caused her to seriously reconsider her health and fitness goals. Now Lauren Manzo seems to be in a much better place — and she’s receiving plenty of support as she continues her journey.
“I think your [sic] brave and thank you for sharing this! I’m at a pretty rock bottom myself right now and you just inspired me.” one person wrote.
“It’s great to see you’ve found what makes a difference for you. As someone who struggles too, I appreciate you letting us see someone you think “has it all” working so hard to be the best version of themselves FOR themselves and those she loves. Well done,” someone else said.
