A Real Housewives newbie has some advice for Erika Jayne.

In a new interview, Real Housewives of Dubai star Caroline Stanbury opened up about the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills veteran’s legal drama and said if it happened to her, she would have left the show long ago. Stanbury has hinted that she would like to take her place on the West Coast reality show.

Stanbury, 45, is best known for the show Ladies of London, which aired on Bravo from 2014 to 2017, but she’s long had her eye on a place across the pond.

While dealing with her own drama as a cast member of “Real Housewives of Dubai,” Stanbury admitted she’s a RHOBH fan, though she didn’t want “Ladies of London” to be some sort of “Housewives” show.

In an interview on the podcast “Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef”.Stanbury said, “I’ve always been a fan of Beverly Hills housewives, but you have to remember, when we became a show, we didn’t want to be a housewives show. So we, what actually, in hindsight I think it was one of our biggest mistakes.”

“We should have been housewives because I don’t think people really understood what ‘Ladies of London’ was going to be, but we should have just stuck with the whole housewives thing,” she explained. “But yeah, I loved Beverly Hills, loved it. Watching other people’s lives to escape my own has always been my kind of guilty pleasure.”

Stanbury has also worked on one of the biggest RHOBH storylines. Last season, Erika Jayne’s high-profile divorce from former power attorney Tom Girardi — and the accompanying embezzlement lawsuits that afflicted him — dominated the Bravo reality show. Erika is caught up in her ex’s legal mess, which has him accused of stealing millions of dollars in settlement funds from widows and orphans.

In the RHOBH Season 12 trailer, the “Pretty Mess” singer stunned viewers by saying she only takes care of herself. “You want to side with the victims because you think it’s cool,” she told her co-stars in the teaser. “What I’m telling you… I don’t care about anyone but myself.”

In the podcast interview, Stanbury said if she were Erika, she would “walk” in front of the Real Housewives.

“I think I would run,” she admitted. “I don’t think she comes across that well because she’s very defensive, that is, I understand because she feels connected. But when you look at the flip side of what happened behind you, you know the audience doesn’t connect with her, you know, so it’s difficult.

“No, I probably wouldn’t stay or have stayed,” Stanbury added.

She noted that Real Housewives is Erika’s “job” and she needs a way to make money, so she understands why she stayed on the show. According to Us Weekly, Erika Jayne earned $600,000 for season 11 and was probably paid a lot more for season 12.

“It’s pretty hard to see though,” Stanbury added of Erika. “I think it’s very difficult. And I think, you know, no matter how you feel and how likeable you feel, when you see her wearing designer clothes and all that stuff, you’re like, ‘Oh God, just take it all.’ It is very difficult.”

Although RHOBH has an oversized cast – in addition to Erika Jayne, nine other cast members will appear in the upcoming season: Kyle Richards, Lisa Rinna, Dorit Kemsley, Sutton Stracke, Garcelle Beauvais, Crystal Kung Minkoff, Diana Jenkins, Kathy Hilton and Sheree Zampino – Stanbury said she would “love to” be on the show, although it would obviously involve a big move.

“I love Beverly Hills,” said the Dubai-based star. “I’d love to be there, but you know, it’s that jump of moving to America, isn’t it? I’d love to be in Housewives of Beverly Hills, but you know, it is what it is. It’s like, I guess I just have to be comfortable seeing it from a distance. No, I have friends on it. I love it!”

Stanbury previously said her “goal” is to eventually move to the United States.

“I definitely have an eye on the States,” she said previously. according to Us Weekly. “That’s my – that’s my goal. I have friends in New York and Beverly Hills. Beverly Hills is probably more of a relaxed vibe, at least for me. I love it. I have a lot of friends in LA, you know? But you never say never to New York.”
