Master P, who competed in the second season of “Dancing With the Stars,” has spoken out multiple times about the loss of Tytyana and urged people to keep loved ones close. The rapper is on Instagram posted a photo of himself with his arm around his daughter Tytyana and wrote: “Life is too short. Give your loved ones flowers during their lifetime. #TYTY Love You #missyou #GodGotUs family above all.”

He later to CBS Mornings, that he feels guilty and wonders what else he could have done to save his daughter.

“All parents [feels that guilt]. I feel like I could have done more, but you never know. We’ve been going through this for nine years and you’re like, ‘Oh you know what, she’s going to get through this, we’re going to move on and live happily ever after,'” the rapper said.

Master P continued that he asked his other children what he was doing wrong and some of them said he could be a bit controlling.

“I had to look in my own mirror and say that’s true, but I just built parameters to protect, for love, because I know where I’m from and what I’ve been through,” the rapper said. “And when you look at mental illness and substance abuse, it’s serious. It affects everyone – black, white, Asian, Latino, rich, poor.”

“It hurts like family,” he continued, adding, “Anyone watching this — love your loved ones while they’re here because once you walk out that door, you never know who’s going to come back.” … My daughter had a lot of life in her and she was a happy woman who knew she could do something better tomorrow.”

Romeo Miller, son of Master P who placed fifth in season 12 of the dance competition series with partner Chelsie Hightower, posted a tribute to his sister on her 30th birthday on August 1st.

Romeo wrote to his sister:

The Miller family has been open about Tytyana’s battle with substance abuse

Tytyana Miller’s struggle with substance abuse was featured several times during seasons of the Miller family’s Growing Up Hip Hop on WE TV.

“I feel like I don’t need to go to rehab. I feel like I could actually do good without rehab,” Tytyana said in the clip.

“I mean, you say that, Tyty, but seriously, I think we should get professional help just to make sure you stay on course,” Master P said. “I think you should at least try, because I.” don’t do it.” I don’t want you to bring that up.”

Romeo added, “I have friends who have been through that, and it takes two years to really feel like you can walk away from that lifestyle.”

“I don’t want you to go back to, ‘Oh, I’m just gonna drink a little,’ or ‘I just want to smoke a little,’ or anything. For me, I can be around people who drink or smoke and I don’t want that,” said Master P.

Then he added in a Talking Head interview: “I really hope Tyty is serious about making a change. … If we do this with my daughter, hopefully we’ll send the same message to her mother as if you need help, we’re here for you.”

After Tytyana’s death, Master P told TMZ, “The only way we can heal from this and grow from it is through the truth. It’s been a long and painful road for our family, my daughter has been struggling with it since 2015. Mental illness and substance abuse are real issues and we hope to turn this tragedy into a testimony.”

“As a father, I have always set parameters to protect my children. Unfortunately, when they grow up, they have the legal right to choose who they want to have relationships with, healthy or unhealthy,” he added. “Putting my faith and trust in God, I realize that no human being is exempt from pain or death. Every day, families face the loss of loved ones to mental illness and substance abuse. I am committed to investing my time, resources and passion to help other families affected by the same issues. Our healing process will not end in grief, we will celebrate my daughter’s life. Tytyana was inspirational, uplifting, artistic and a loving person who cared deeply about others.”
