Celebrity-backed Daily Harvest recalls French Lentil + Leek Crumbles over reported gastrointestinal issues

Daily Harvest has recalled its French Lentil + Leek Crumbles after some customers claimed consumption of the product caused “gastrointestinal upset”. NBC News reports.
The vegan meal company issued a statement on its website, saying the product had been temporarily discontinued.

Daily Harvest is reminiscent of French Lentil + Leek Crumbles
As reported by the Daily mailFood delivery brand Daily Harvest, which has been endorsed by the likes of Serena Williams and Gwyneth Paltrow, has recalled a lentil-based product after some customers reported gastrointestinal problems.
The product — “French Lentil + Leek Crumbles” — was available for $9.79 for three servings, according to the company website.
according to a Statement from Daily Harvestthe company launched an investigation after some customers reported health issues.
The company stated: “We have received customer reports of French lentil and leek crumbles causing gastrointestinal problems. We immediately took steps to address what we heard from customers by reaching out to each person who received French Lentil + Leek Crumbles and instructing them to discard the product and not eat it .
“We have simultaneously launched an investigation with internal and external experts across our supply chain and in accordance with regulatory procedures. We will share more information as it becomes available.”
Company asks customers to dispose of leftovers
In the same statement, Daily Harvest urged customers to discard any leftover French Lentil + Leek Crumble immediately.
“If you have French lentil and leek crumbles, please discard and do not eat,” the food delivery service wrote in bold on its website.
“Our mission has always been to take care of groceries, so groceries can take care of you,” the statement added. “This means that quality, safety and transparency are and always will be our top priorities.”
