Changes to medical marijuana ID cards in Pennsylvania

PENNSYLVANIA (WHTM) – Pennsylvania medical marijuana ID cards will be updated in 2023.
According to Pennsylvania Department of Healthall medical marijuana ID cards printed after January 1, 2023 will have a new design.
The redesigned cards will slowly replace the existing cards as patients renew their ID cards.

Patients and carers do not need to apply for a new ID, just wait for your active card to expire. The cards with the new design work and behave the same as the old design.

Pharmacies will be notified and must accept both card designs.
The term “medical marijuana” refers to using the whole, unprocessed marijuana plant or its base extracts to treat a disease or symptom, according to the governor’s office.
Pennsylvania legalized medical marijuana in 2016, but recreational marijuana has not yet been legalized.
