Channing Tatum’s stint as a stripper has made him a fortune thanks to Magic Mike

Channing Tatum is a Hollywood icon, but before breaking into the showbiz world, the actor worked as a stripper at a local nightclub to earn some extra cash.

Magic Mike – a smash hit starring Channing – is a film that doesn’t need many words.

Just looking at the poster gives us a sense of what to expect in the flick. However, it is based on true events, which makes its story unique and, shall we say, easy on the eyes. It became a hit after it hit theaters and now, 10 years later, Magic Mike is still enjoyed today.

To celebrate Magic Mike’s 10th birthday, HITC explores the story behind the film and Channing Tatum’s former job as a stripper.

As reported by Us weeklyBefore Channing Tatum became a well-known actor in the Hollywood industry, as well as one of his first jobs in fantasy, he was a stripper at a local nightclub.

Using the alias “Chan Crawford,” he began working as a stripper at age 18 after dropping out of college at the University of Florida. He revealed that at this age it was very common for young people to go to parties, drink alcohol and use various ways to earn extra money.

Speaking about his experiences as a young stripper, he told the news outlet: “On a good night, [I made] 150 dollars. $70 on a bad night. Sometimes even 50.

Channing also shared awkward encounters when he gave dances where 2,000 to 3,000 women “attacked” him and his colleagues every night.

Although he only undressed for eight months before he started modeling and acting, the actor said it was also around the time that he started experimenting with drugs and drinking heavily. Still, he admitted it was never a big issue that affected his personal life and was more of a “let’s go out and have a great time”.

Who would have thought that Channing Tatum’s experience as a stripper would make him such a hit around the world? Not even Channing himself.

Due to its success, its sequel, Magic Mike XXL, was released three years later. It showed an update of their current life after they quit stripping. The Kings of Tampa put on one last show together to end their careers on the highest level.

Corresponding Box office mojoWith a budget of just $7 million, the first film grossed $167,739,368 worldwide. Unexpectedly, it became the highest-grossing dance film of all time. Its sequel Magic Mike XXL doubled its budget, earning a total gross of $117,813,057.

The following year, the actor announced the making of Magic Mike Live, an IRL version of the film. A dream for many. Channing tells Cosmopolitan that it would be a version of a gentlemen’s club but for ladies, which refers to a “playboy club”.

To make the show unique, he hired Alison Fault and Teresa Espinosa. Both have worked with P!nk and Britney Spears and danced with the late Prince.
