Charles C. McKnight Jr. is the Chicago man accused of shooting three people, killing one, at WeatherTech’s warehouse in Bolingbrook, Illinois. according to the police.

Filming took place on Saturday 25 June 2022.

“We can confirm that one victim has died, one victim is in critical condition and one victim has been discharged from the hospital,” Bolingbrook Police said wrote in a press release.

Bolingbrook, Illinois is a southwest suburb of Chicago.

1. Three victims were shot dead in the early hours of the morning, police say

In a statement, police said, “At approximately 6:25 a.m. this morning, June 25, 2022, Bolingbrook Police Officers were dispatched to 1 WeatherTech Way to report a person who has been shot and killed.”

Upon arrival, officers “immediately entered the building to address and stop the reported threat and prevent further casualties or injuries.”

According to the police

Three victims were found to have been shot. These victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The officers quickly learned that the perpetrator had fled the building on foot and were able to obtain more information about the perpetrator.


2. Police located McKnight “behind a residence”

Within three hours, police tracked down McKnight.

“A thorough search of the building and the surrounding area has been launched with the assistance of numerous local law enforcement officials, K-9 units and drone technology,” they wrote in the press release.

“At approximately 9:26 a.m., Bolingbrook Police officers found the perpetrator at the rear of an apartment building on Block 500 of Larkspur Lane. The perpetrator was taken into custody without incident. A gun was also found.”


3. McKnight is accused of robbing employees

The motive: robbery and a resulting dispute, say the police.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the perpetrator was confronted by employees towards the end of the night shift after the perpetrator allegedly robbed two employees and stole a watch and wallet at gunpoint,” police said.

“When he was confronted, an argument broke out and the perpetrator pulled out a pistol and shot three colleagues. This shooting does not appear to be premeditated.”


4. The deceased victim was identified as Central Hightower

Police said one victim died.

“I regret to report that one victim has passed away and one victim is in critical condition. Fortunately, one victim was discharged from the hospital,” they wrote.

“The deceased victim has been identified as Central Hightower, age 37, of Plainfield, IL. The victim, in critical condition, is a 25-year-old man and was also one of the previous robbery victims. The victim who was treated and released is a 43-year-old man. All of the victims were WeatherTech employees.”

In news media comment threads on Facebook, the reaction to the recent shooting quickly turned into a gun control debate. A bipartisan gun control bill was recently passed by the US House of Representatives, with 14 Republicans lining up with Democrats to back the measure. according to Politico.


5. Police say McKnight was a temporary employee at the warehouse

McKnight was a temp worker, according to police.

“The perpetrator has been identified as Charles C. McKnight Jr., age 27, of the 10000 block of Perry Avenue in Chicago,” police wrote.

“Upon his arrest, the proceeds of the robbery were found on McKnight’s person. McKnight was with a temp agency and had only been assigned to the WeatherTech Facility since 06/09/2022.”

“My fiancé’s great aunt works there. Apparently the shooter was a backup they had, not safe on any of the victims.” wrote a woman on Facebook.

Police added: “Will County Attorney Jim Glasgow’s office has approved the following charges, with others pending: 1 count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. ”

They noted, “1 WeatherTech Way is a distribution center for WeatherTech products and is part of the WeatherTech campus.”

The mayor has rebooked the police statement on their Facebook page without offering any further details. “Thanks to all law enforcement for keeping us safe,” one person replied in the mayor’s comments thread.

Another comment writer wrote: “Mayor, thank you for your post with all the ACCURATE dates. As a resident for over 40 years, you appreciate that.”
