Chelsea favorites to beat Tottenham for £100m but there’s a catch

Chelsea are among the favorites to sign Tottenham target Matthijs de Ligt but Juventus will only sell the defender if a club can meet their €120m (£100m) release clause.
According to Tuttosport about CalcioMerctothe west London side, along with FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSG, are keen to sign De Ligt this summer, although Juventus only want a club-record sum for the Dutch international.
According to the report, the Bianconeri are keen to keep De Ligt this summer but their hands are tied if a club like Chelsea come up with a £100m offer for the defender, which Tottenham are also interested in, a former Ajax star.
When previously reported by CalcioMercatoAntonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are big fans of De Ligt and the signing of the Juventus centre-back would be a massive sign of intent for both Tottenham and the Italian duo.
However, Juventus’ only demand for a potential sale this summer could well exceed what Tottenham are capable of as Daniel Levy’s shrewd business practices are notorious in European football.

Even for a club like Chelsea or PSG, De Ligt would be a huge financial undertaking this summer and for Tottenham they simply won’t be able to meet Juventus’ demands for the Dutch superstar.
Tottenham reportedly packing in De Ligt dream after Juventus update
De Ligt’s signing would be one of the most grandiose moves Tottenham have ever made, but with Juventus naming their tough demands on the defender, it’s clear a Spurs move is more a work of fantasy than reality.
As previously mentioned, £100m is simply too big for some of the biggest clubs in the world, let alone Tottenham, and this latest update from Juventus should see the north London side aim for other lofty goals ahead of the summer.
