Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to provide an update on Leeds and Raphinha, where he made an interesting claim about Chelsea.
What’s the matter?
Well, according to the trusted Italian journalist, Chelsea were leading the race to land the Brazil international before Roman Abramovich was sanctioned.
Earlier in March, Chelsea were rocked by news of Abramovich’s sanction.
The Blues ceased trading in everything from tickets to club shop merchandise to transfer deals.

Raphinha would be open to a move to Barcelona in the summer, positive talks between Deco and the club since March 9 – no talks between the clubs yet as Barça will wait for the situation at Leeds to be clarified. 🇧🇷 #FCB

With every day that a new buyer isn’t found, Chelsea are also losing money as company credit cards have been frozen by Barclays – somehow they have to deal with a £28million-a-month wage bill alongside all that.
While this will anger Chelsea fans, it will excite Leeds supporters, and not just because of the rivalry between the two.
That means as things stand, a major challenger to Raphinha’s signature is unable to actually bid.
The situation at Chelsea isn’t just good news for Leeds
While Chelsea are out of action in the market, others are not.
Romano adds that Barcelona have had positive talks with Raphinha’s agent Deco, who used to play for Chelsea and the Spanish giants.
The Leeds winger is open to a move to the Camp Nou, although Barcelona will wait to see if Leeds are relegated before reporting.
It sounds like Leeds simply have to stay in the Premier League if they have any chance of keeping Raphinha given the high level of interest.
Keep an eye on this saga as many top clubs circle the Brazil international.
