“Dance with the Stars” professional dancer Cheryl Burke has revealed the latest twist in her divorce from ex-husband, actor Matthew Lawrenceand how she was “really hurt by the whole situation.”

Here’s what’s going on inside Burke and Lawrence ongoing divorce proceedings.

Burke said they will go to court over their dog

On the Episode of her podcast “Burke in the Game” from October 4th Burke revealed the divorce is almost entirely settled, but they’re going to court over their dog, Isabella.

“I’m officially divorced now. It all happened on the premiere night of “Dancing With the Stars.” I saw it in the press, didn’t believe it until my attorney called me two days later,” Burke revealed on her podcast.

But she went on to say that “it’s not over yet.”

“It’s still not over because we may have to go to court. Well, we’re going to court unless he suddenly cancels it. But that will happen in January,” said the dancer.

She continued by saying that she’s “just still really hurt by the whole situation.”

Burke audibly choked and said, “That’s my dog. Ysabella is my daughter. I’m a dog mom and that’s it. I couldn’t even imagine my life – I could just cry right now – couldn’t imagine my life without her.”

Ysabella is a French Bulldog that Lawrence gave Burke as a gift for their first wedding anniversary, Burke was revealed on Instagram at the time.

But on the Episode of their podcast from September 19thBurke said she’s been the one primarily responsible for Ysabella since they got the dog, and she thinks Lawrence’s efforts to get custody of Ysabella were “vindictive.”

“Since day one I’ve honestly been the person responsible for it [Ysabella] both financially and emotionally. She’s technically my emotional support animal or service dog,” Burke said. “I just took her to New York, she flew with me, she sat on my lap, so she’s a service dog. …I paid the bulk of the cost for Ysabella, and now I think it feels really vindictive when that happens, and I’m really saddened by it. I couldn’t imagine my life without her.”

Burke also said she hopes to have what her “Dancing With the Stars” partner Sam Champion has with his husband Rubem

On the Oct. 4 episode of the podcast, Burke welcomed her “Dancing With the Stars” season 31 partner. Sam champion and his husband Rubem Robierb, a photographer and visual artist, as their guests. Before her performance, she praised how involved Robierb was with Champion’s journey on the show and said she hopes to find that one day.

“They both came [to Los Angeles] from New York. We’re supposed to be traveling back and forth, but with the intensity of the schedule … it’s just not realistic to be able to travel back and forth,” Burke said.

She went on to elaborate on Robierb helping Champion with his tendons and hips which bothered him throughout the process and she is so impressed with the love and support they have for one another.

“There’s so much love in there. No expectations from either side. I just hope to find someone like that,” said the dancer.

She added: “It’s been such a short but long journey. I’ve definitely been more alert throughout the season, which means I think I’m a lot more present than I’ve ever been. And I’m just trying to surrender to the good, the bad, and the ugly, and it was really scary, but it was also an eye-opener for me.”

Dancing With the Stars airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. Eastern/5 p.m. Pacific Time on Disney Plus.
