The Hallmark series Chesapeake Shores has been renewed, but only for another final season. And fans now know exactly when the new (and final) season 6 will premiere and how many episodes it will be.

Chesapeake Shores returns in August

According to an official post from The Hallmark Channel, “Chesapeake Shores” returns for its sixth season on Sunday, August 14th.

The premiere date coincides with the premiere of other seasons of the series. Seasons 3, 4, and 5 all premiered in mid to late August.

The final season will be 10 episodes long

Deadline previously reported that the sixth season will air this summer and will be 10 episodes long. The tenth episode also serves as the series finale. Airing a new episode every week without a break means the series finale will air on October 16, 2022, just before the countdown to the holiday season begins.

Many details about the final season are unknown, such as whether they will continue with Robert Buckley’s story after Jesse Metcalfe leaves. said Metcalfe in an interview with The List that he would only return to Chesapeake Shores if he knew Trace and Abby would eventually get together.

Hallmark canceled the series so it could end on a “high note.”

Mark said in a tweet that it was now canceling the show so it could “close the show on a high note.”

When a fan asked why it was cancelled, the Hallmark Channel said on its official Twitter account: “We are so proud of Chesapeake Shores, a show that captured the imagination and came to a natural conclusion and we have decided to continue the show on a high note in its sixth and final season, which premieres later this summer.”

Laurie Ferneau, SVP Programming, Series, at Hallmark Channel, said deadline about the news: “With a world-class cast and creative team, ‘Chesapeake Shores’ told stories that are relatable, poignant and unforgettable. We look forward to celebrating the journey viewers have taken with the O’Briens with one final, special season.”

According to the TV series finale, Ratings were lower for the prior season. Season 5 averaged about 0.10 in the 18-49 age group, which was about 46% lower in that demographic than the previous season, plus 15% lower on live and same-day -Viewership.

Hallmark recently canceled some series

Quite a few series have recently been canceled by Hallmark. However, “When Calls the Heart” was recently safely renewed for a new season.

Meanwhile, Hallmark didn’t renew “When Hope Calls” for a second season, but it was picked up by the GAC Family network. GAC has already aired a Christmas special, but it’s not clear if or when the second season will air.

Hallmark also canceled “Good Witch” in its seventh season in 2021. Fans asked if GAC Family could record this series as well. but in an interview with NextTVBill Abbott, who launched GAC in September 2021, said they are not at the point to consider it.

He said: “It was certainly a great series and James Denton and Catherine Bell were great in it. We’d certainly like to consider that, but we’re not there yet. If there’s good family-friendly content, we’re definitely open to business.

Hallmark also recently canceled some mystery series, along with the talk show Home & Family.
