“Each Wonderlab will immerse you in a new world, beginning with the forest of Asian elephants to discover how we use their droppings to detect and monitor pregnancies and promote breeding programs for endangered species.

“Next, we discover Indonesia, where guests will learn how experts used bioacoustics to find Javanese green magpies in the wild. Then it’s off to South America to help us rescue anteaters, capybaras and tapirs from their greatest threat, busy roads and highways. Using social science, we work with local communities to report sightings of these species near heavy traffic so conservationists can help protect them.

“Finally it goes to the sun bear habitat in our Southeast Asian zone, islands to help design their perfect home so they feel safe and happy to have cubs before going into the 360 lab to… learning how animals freeze DNA helps preserve valuable genes for the future.

“We are of course incredibly excited to welcome Hamza to the zoo to inspire future conservationists with inspirational stories about his journey as a zoologist and wildlife cameraman.

“Wild Science will be a perfect mid-term event. It’s interactive, fun, educational and full of surprises – it’s sure to keep the kids busy! This trail not only showcases the incredible animals that Chester Zoo is home to, but also highlights the challenges species face in the wild and how conservationists are using the latest science to prevent their extinction.”

Hamza’s lecture “My life behind the lens” will take place on February 21 at 11:00 and 14:00. For more information, visit www.chesterzoo.org/wild-science
