‘Teen Mom’ star Cheyenne Floyd recently admitted she could use some support from fans. She is a mother to two children, Ryder and Ace, and regularly shares updates about the children through her social media pages. Her recent Instagram posts have been positive about life with her kids and husband Zach Davis, but apparently there were some health issues for Ryder behind the scenes.
Here’s what you need to know:
Cheyenne Floyd noted that Ryder has been getting sick a lot lately
On March 13, the “Teen Mom” star got dressed their Instagram Stories and opened up a way for fans to connect with her. She posted a question box and simply pointed everyone to “Spread Love.” Floyd released some notes she received and added encouraging notes of her own to some of them. One question from a devotee was, “Do you have a prayer request? How can we help?”
Floyd shared this fan request and replied, “Prayers for Ryder’s health and a speedy recovery… seems like she has been getting sick on and off since kindergarten started.” Ryder, 5, started kindergarten in August 2022. At the time, Floyd shared a handful of photos her Instagram page Highlighting her daughter’s big day. “Kindergarten, here we come! So excited for Ryder’s first day! Thank you to all the men in her life for showing up to take her today.”
Ryder smiled as she posed in front of her school, hands on hips while wearing an ornate paper hat that showed she loved kindergarten. Other photos in Floyd’s Instagram post showed Ryder posing with her father Cory Wharton, stepfather Davis, half-brother Ace and half-sister Mila along with Lloyd’s own father Kyle Floyd and stepfather David James “Bo” Bowdre. As happy as Ryder looked when she started kindergarten, she seems to have been sick a lot since she started her new school. Given her existing health, fans likely understand why Floyd could use some extra support.
Ryder Wharton has a rare genetic disorder
As the family detailed on theirs Rage Independent Ry websiteRyder was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called VLCAD (Very Long Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency) after birth. The condition means Ryder’s body can’t convert long-chain fatty acids into energy, they said Health Resources & Services Administration Newborn Screening Website. The condition can cause damage to the muscles, heart, and liver, as well as fatigue and problems with low blood sugar. Although Ryder’s family is used to managing the disease by this point, even simple additional illnesses can cause problems. For example, if an illness leads to diarrhea, vomiting or even eating disorders, emergency care may be necessary.
Lloyd didn’t share any details on what type of illness Ryder is currently battling. However, the “Teen Mom” star’s note signaled that her daughter wasn’t feeling well and that the family could use some extra prayers. When another follower noted that his family had just received a VLCAD diagnosis, Floyd posted a lengthy reply. “I remember getting the call that Ryder had it… we were home from the hospital on our second day and it was one of the scariest days of my life.” Floyd added that she didn’t even know that VLCAD existed when Ryder was diagnosed, and she encouraged the follower to “take this time to feel all the emotions … give yourself time to process and learn,” while adding that she would pray for the family.
