Child Uvalde was miraculously saved after noticing the shooter around the corner

Some images from surveillance video from Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, tell stories that incite anger and rage. Others give us pause.
The video is about 4 minutes and 40 seconds long, and after the gunman is seen walking down the hallway to the room where 19 children and two teachers were soon killed, a boy walks into the hallway.
His face blurred. His name has yet to be revealed.
The boy looked around the corner and at the shooter, who was far away in the hallway. He waited, looking at the only other person in the long deserted hallway.

The shooter didn’t seem to notice because as the boy was watching, the gunman entered the classroom, firing an estimated first of more than 100 rounds. The boy ran away.
Did Yall see the boy in the hallway when the gunman entered the Uvalde school?? How did he see him holding a gun and he ran away?? I want to hug him 🥺

You know who I can’t stop thinking about? The boy turned the corner when Uvalde’s shooter was in the hallway and then ran. Like god, how different it would have been if he had turned that corner even 10 seconds earlier.

The gunfire continued after the boy ran away. About three minutes later, the police responded.
Videos also have images that need context.
About 8 minutes and 30 seconds into the video, one of the police officers checks his phone. That gesture caused condemnation until the whole story was told.
“This really makes my blood boil,” said Terrance Carroll, a former speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, in a tweet that has since been deleted, according to the Texas Tribune. “This official is checking his phone while children and teachers are slowly dying at a few doors.”
The abuse prompted Democratic Representative Joe Moody to explain the circumstances surrounding Officer Ruben Ruiz, whose wife, teacher Eva Mireles, was one of the teachers killed that day.
Mireles called her husband to say she had been shot. Ruiz was eventually escorted from the scene. Mireles lived long enough to be rescued from the school, but she died while being transported to the hospital.
Leaked surveillance of the law enforcement agency’s response to the Uvalde shooting was released on Tuesday showing an officer staring at his phone. The officer is described as Ruben Ruiz, whose wife was just shot in one of the classrooms with the gunman.

I know that Officer Ruiz deserves an apology from me for thinking the worst of him. He’s the only Uvalde-related cop that I think deserves a pass.

“I couldn’t say anything when I saw that this man, who had lost everything, looked as wicked as if he were indifferent or actively malicious,” said Moody. said in a Twitter thread. “Context matters. For those who didn’t bother to read even the news reported in your rush to judge, he tried to join but was taken from the building and disarmed. We will have a lot to say about the police response, but no criticism of the officer.”
Do you think this video should be released soon?
Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, further explained the situation in testimony before a Texas Senate committee, according to ABC.
“We had an officer, Officer Ruiz, whose wife called and said she was shot and she was dying,” McCraw said. “What happened to him was that he was trying to move forward in the hallway. He was taken into custody, and they removed the gun from him and removed him from the scene.”
