A “Dancing with the Stars” alum has been hospitalized following a major health crisis.
on December 8, 2022, TMZ reports that Saturday Night Live graduate Chris Kattan had a medical emergency that required surgery.

Chris Kattan was hospitalized with pneumonia
Kattan was a candidate on 24th season of DWTS in 2017 where he worked with pro dancer Witney Carson. The duo became the first couple to be eliminated in the season that would eventually crown NFL running back Rashad Jennings as the victor.
According to TMZ, five years after his DWTS run, Kattan, 52, underwent emergency surgery after being diagnosed with extreme pneumonia caused by the bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae. Pneumococcus bacteria can cause infections in the lungs, brain lining, blood, and more. according to CDC.
Kattan is recovering in the hospital and has canceled his previously scheduled stand-up comedy dates, including shows at The Market in Valparaiso, Indiana, which were scheduled for the weekend of December 9, according to TMZ. A contribution to the venue Facebook site included a message from Kattan’s rep stating, “Due to a medical emergency, Chris Kattan has had to reschedule his shows this week. He’s currently in the hospital and doing well, but won’t be able to perform on stage for a few weeks.”
The message said Kattan “deeply apologizes” for not being able to do his shows.

Kattan has had other serious health issues over the years. After the season 24 premiere of DWTS, Kattan revealed that years earlier he broke his neck and underwent multiple surgeries. According to the comic, the comic now has multiple staffs and screws in its spine entertainment tonight.
“I broke my neck and basically had four surgeries in the last 20 years,” Kattan said in 2017. per person. “One in my back, one through the throat… I had to watch out for a very long time.”
calico said people that after his first surgery he was told to rest for six months but decided to go back to work just 60 days later. His condition eventually worsened and he had to undergo more serious surgery a few years later.
“The doctor said I was so close to being almost paralyzed for the rest of my life,” Kattan said. “The rehabilitation process was really serious this time. I mean, the doctor put bolts in my back.”
Kattan initially said his injury was the result of a “stunt thing,” but he didn’t elaborate.
But in his 2019 book “Baby Don’t Hurt Me: Tales and Scars of Saturday Night Live”, Kattan claimed he broke his neck after falling off a chair during a Saturday Night Live skit in 2001. By varietyHer SNL staff had no record of Kattan’s injury, and the comedian never publicized his injury until he joined Dancing With the Stars more than 15 years later.
Before his injury became public, Kattan was upset after DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba criticized his first dance, calling it “stiff.”
“I was having a great time, but Carrie Ann said, ‘Try not to be so stiff.’ My first thought was, ‘I don’t know how to do this,'” Kattan said in his DWTS Week 2 package: per pop culture.
Kattan also revealed that he entered the celebrity ballroom competition to show how far he had come physically following his medical ordeal.
“Years ago, I just couldn’t do it physically. It’s really a comeback,” he said on DWTS. “I may not be the best dancer, but I’m just going to get out there and do what I love to do and have a lot of fun doing it.”
