Kane scored from the penalty spot as some fans called 606 to tell Sutton that the number of goals he’s scored from the penalty spot means the England captain doesn’t compare to those around him.

On top of that, he doesn’t show up for big games.

Sutton was stunned by the “criticism” directed at Kane, who is ever closer to making history for his country.

“Harry Kane gets a lot of flak,” Sutton said. “I just do not understand.

“I don’t understand why he gets so much stick. I know he had a shady start to the season because he threw his toys out of the pram after the Manchester City thing.

“But Harry Kane is a top player. I don’t understand the criticism of him.”

The only big dark cloud over Kane’s head is the fact that he doesn’t have a trophy medal in his closet.

Maybe if he wins a few trophies, be it with his country or at club level, then he’ll probably earn more respect.

But at the end of the day he was outstanding from an individual point of view.

Not only is he moving up the Premier League top scorers list, he is also tied for second in goals for England with Sir Bobby Charlton.
