Christie Brinkley gets support from fans after posting photo with gray hair

“Dancing With the Stars” alum showed off a new look.

Christie Brinkley may or may not be going gray.

In March 2023, the 69-year-old short-term Dancing With the Stars star shared a photo to Instagram to show off her fully grown gray roots after a missed visit to the salon. In the picture, Brinkley was sitting on the beach on a gray day and she noticed that the color of the waves matched her hair.

In the caption, the former supermodel revealed she was debating whether or not to keep the look. “My son thinks it looks cool, but I think I might want to wait until it’s more like the silvery whitecaps than the gray wave itself! The verdict is pending!” she wrote.

The reaction of the fans was not long in coming. Some thought Brinkley’s son, Jack Brinkley Cook, was off with someone to tell her “Stay blonde to the end”.

But others told Brinkley to try.

“This is ‘Silver Hair’ Christy. There is NO gray hair. It sparkles on you. …It’s very empowering and liberating. It suits you uptown girl.” wrote a fan.

“The gray at the roots is beautiful and the various strands are already showing definition! Gray with your beautiful face would be stunning!” another wrote.

And others suggested that Brinkley could use her platform to empower women about aging.

“Go natural to encourage more women to embrace the beauty of aging gracefully. There is nothing wrong with silver/grey/white hair. It’s all about how you own the beauty of it.” A fan intervened.

“I imagine when you’re known for your beautiful blonde hair, it’s a much bigger decision.” another wrote. “If you keep it, keep that classic Christie look as you go gray it would be inspirational to any woman who doesn’t want to conform to societal standards of how a woman should age.” Either way, you’ll still be a beautiful person. The package doesn’t matter.”

This isn’t the first time Christie Brinkley has gone gray

Brinkley has graced hundreds of magazine covers over a career spanning more than 40 years. including three Sports Illustrated swimsuit covers. She’s known for her megawatt smile and long blonde hair, but at age 69 she’s hinted it’s work keeping up. In January 2020, the “Sports Illustrated” graduate posted on Instagram to reveal she skipped the salon when she was out of town and was in for a surprise a few weeks later.

“Before leaving NYC 3 weeks ago I was supposed to dye but I’ve decided to save my hair and just do it when I get home,” she captioned a picture of her with gray hair. “As a result, I’ve gone back to my roots… and I’ve always been surprised to see that my ‘nature highlights’ are more silver than gold! So what do you think? Do you embrace the silver? or go for the gold?”

Brinkley received a mix of comments, as did her 2023 post. “No silver until late ’90s,” wrote one follower.

“Let the pieces of silver shine!!!! You look beautiful!! Come over to the #Silverside”, another told the legendary model.

Christie Brinkley is not concerned with aging

While Brinkley enjoys her hair color, she’s not stressed about aging. Less than a year until her 70th birthday^th The mother of three still considers herself to be young on her birthday.

In a 2021 interview on The Tamron Hall Show Speaking about her age, Brinkley told Hall: “The number is completely irrelevant to me, I don’t think about it. I don’t let that affect me.”

She added that her generation defined a new era for older women due to better diet and exercise.

More recently Brinkley told People that “ageism” is one of the last things women can overcome, but that the “spirit and energy” brought into a space is more important. “This will turn you out,” she said. “Forget antiaging and all that. It’s really about gratitude.”
