Chuck Todd leaves “Meet the Press”, Kristen Welker becomes the new presenter

NBC’s Meet the press Presenter Chuck Todd will step down later this year. He will be replaced by Kristen Welker, the current co-host of This weekend.
todd announced the news his departure during Sunday’s broadcast.
“Although today is not my last show, this will be my last summer here Meet the press,” he said. “I’m really proud of what this team and I have built over the last decade.”
The host began hosting the show nine years ago and has transformed the program from a single Sunday show into a “distinct and important political franchise” on television, print newsletters, podcasts and film festivals.
Todd added that the key to any media company’s survival is that executives “don’t exceed their expectations,” which is why he chooses to leave sooner rather than later. Although he is expected to stay worked as a senior policy analyst.
“I will continue to help navigate NBC and coach fellow NBC’s this 2024 campaign season and beyond,” Todd noted.
Todd also justified his departure with trying to prevent burnout. “I’ve let my work consume me for almost 30 years,” he said. “And having seen too many friends and family get overwhelmed with work before it was too late, I made a promise to my friends and family that I wouldn’t.”
His successor, Welker, joined NBC News in 2010. She has reported on the last three presidential elections moderated the final debate 2020 between former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden. She was made co-host of This weekend in 2020.
Todd called Welker “the right person” to take on the job, saying that he was “hoping that’s how it would end for me if I passed the baton to her.”
