City could sell an “exciting” Arsenal target for 2020 after an “immense” season

Manchester City could reportedly sell Brazilian defender Yan Couto after an incredible year on loan, with the full-back set to be a target for Arsenal in 2020 ahead of his move to England.

According to UOL Esports about A BolaThe likes of Olympique Marseille and FC Porto are interested in the 20-year-old full-back, who has just returned to City after a ‘huge’ season at SC Braga, where Couto was a regular for the Portuguese club.

City signed Couto in 2020, beating Arsenal like Arsenal for the Brazilian’s signature in one of the many moves the Manchester giants have taken to bring quality South Americans to the Etihad Stadium. However, the defender could now be sold.

Indeed, City have been somewhat reckless in selling some of their best prospects this summer, with the likes of Gavin Bazunu and Romeo Lavia signing for Southampton, Darko Gyabi leaving for Leeds United and talented defender CJ Egan-Riley making the move also to Burnley.

And now Couto could be next on the list for City, although as things stand the defender will most likely leave the club on loan as the full-back’s contract runs until 2025, giving Marseille and Porto little negotiating power over a permanent move.

City have been quick to gut youth teams this summer and more departures are expected in the coming weeks, although selling Couto for the Premier League champions would be a huge mistake given the youngster’s talent.

Indeed, Couto was a regular at Braga last season and is likely to join a UEFA Champions League side on loan this summer, and with Kyle Walker heading towards the final prime years of his career, the South American could be a brilliant long-term replacement for him English superstar.
