Call of Duty casting duo Merk and Maven are expected to miss the CDL Kickoff Classic for the second year in a row as contract negotiations resume.
CDL pre-season scheduled to start January 21 with CDL Kickoff Classic. The event will feature all 12 teams in a LAN knockout.
However, two of the league’s most beloved players, Joe ‘Merk’ DeLuca and Clint ‘Maven’ Evans, will not be joining the broadcast team for the tournament because of lurking contract issues.
CDL Merk & Maven cake will not be available at Kickoff Classic

In one Twitch Streams On January 17, Merk announced the sad news to CDL fans everywhere that the duo would not be attending the pre-season event “unless something magically changes.”
This is the second season in a row that Merk and Maven are out of the CDL Kickoff Classic. The selection duo have attempted to work with CDL on extending their contracts for the Vanguard season but it appears those talks have stalled.
Back on January 6, fellow streamer Tyler ‘TeeP’ Polchow asked Merk if he was prepared for this upcoming CDL season.
He said they are not under contract for this season but they are still under contract due to the signing date.
It looks like now their contracts have expired and nothing has been done since then to guarantee that both will be part of the 2022 CDL.
However, this doesn’t mean they can’t solve something before regular season starts above February 4. This could make sense given that they missed last year’s pre-season games but were signed for the regular season.
We will update you on their status as more information becomes available. For now, you can update all News CDL by visiting our page.
