Cole Hagan’s family sues over alleged ambush

Parents of a high school soccer player allegedly beaten in an ambush sued for the attack. family of Cole HaganFollow Insiders.

“The Hagan family will pursue justice in this case,” their attorney Loren Klitsas tell the store. “Their son Cole, a star footballer, is permanently damaged, and they have no choice but to pursue the parties responsible for it. So terrible.”

Ayden Holland, 18 and Logan Huber, 17, allegedly lured Hagan from a party in Lake Jackson, Texas last month, and Reid MitchellAuthorities said the 17-year-old ambushed him. Mitchell allegedly punched Hagan in the face, smashed him to the concrete and elbowed him three or four times. The family said he is currently receiving rehabilitation therapy for speech, physical and movement.

There was hostility related to the victim’s “perceived behavior towards some of their female acquaintances,” authorities said.

It’s not clear what the behavior was, but Hagan’s parents deemed the statement defamatory.

The plaintiffs allege that other students knew about the planned attack but failed to stop it, one of them even sending a picture of Cole Hagan to Mitchell to “start” the conspiracy.

Online court records do not name attorneys for the defendants identified, but attorney Huber Scott Brown confirmed to Insider that the 17-year-old girl was manipulated.

“We believe that, unfortunately, he’s just an innocent pawn in all of this without knowing exactly what was going to happen, how it happened,” he said.
