Coleen Rooney joins children Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass in matching red pyjamas

Coleen Rooney has set the tone for what is expected to be a very merry Christmas with the family thanks to her annual festive portraits.

The mother of four has once again enlisted the services of Grace Kellie Photography to capture the family in personalized pajamas ahead of the big day.

In the first of several new portraits, Coleen, 36, joins her children as they pose for a group photo, albeit without Wayne – whose coaching role at MLS football club DC United has kept him away from their Cheshire mansion all season.

Coleen also accompanies each of her children for separate photos taken against a festive backdrop, with each wearing seasonal red nightgowns embroidered with their names.

Elsewhere, Santa’s cheeky list appeared to welcome four new additions, as the doting mum shared an Identity Parade-themed Christmas snap from the same set.

Children Kai, 13, Klay, 9, Kit, 6, and four-year-old Cass are lined up in front of a mock police ruler and pictured with annoyed expressions, their arms crossed over their chests.

A playful message emblazoned above their heads reads, “Dear Santa, I can explain…”

Coleen and her family will spend Christmas at their sprawling £20million Cheshire mansion, a purpose-built estate that neighbors have harshly compared to a Morrison supermarket.

It will be an opportunity for husband Wayne to spend an extended period with his family after moving to the United States to take up a coaching role at his former club, Washington-based DC United.

After announcing his return to the capital, Wayne said: “When my agent called me and said DC had come in, I spoke to my wife first and she said this was an opportunity to return as a coach and I was ready for it .

“If she had said, ‘I don’t want you to go there,’ it would have been different. I’m in a different place as a person than I was in Washington four years ago, and I’m ready.

“Of course I make all important decisions with my wife. My family will stay in England for the time being and come to visit me. From a family point of view, this is not a problem.

The former footballer has also convinced bosses to let him return home if a Premier League job arises – to be with his family.

Coleen struggled to settle down in Washington DC during his year-long stint as a player at the club in 2019.

It was revealed during her infamous Wagatha Christie feud earlier this year that she described the city as “not the best” and “quite behind Britain” in texts to Rebekah Vardy in 2018.

“Nice to visit, but different to live” was her verdict on America’s historic cradle of democracy.
