College basketball midweek 6 preview

Here’s college basketball’s 6th midweek preview of some of the best games of the week in college basketball. This includes the Big East match against Xavier at Villanova, Arizona in Tennessee and Virginia Tech’s ACC clash at Duke

(18) Xavier at (23) Villanova

Xavier

Xavier has a great opportunity to establish themselves as the best team in the Big East. Xavier’s offensive firepower was on display with Nate Johnson and Adam Kunkel coming on from the bench. Furthermore, Colby Jones gives Xavier great flexibility and gives them extra bounce. Moving on, Zach Freemantle has the potential to help Xavier take him to the next level thanks to his ability to score from outside the box and inside. Also, the fact that Xavier has Jack Nunge and Dwon Odom is huge to Xavier’s success thus far.

Villanova

Villanova is looking to recover from a heavy loss at Creighton. The attack for Villanova must show more stability and start with Justin Moore. Furthermore, his more stable on the offensive will allow Villanova to advance to the next level offensively. In addition, Collin Gillespie will be key in getting this team on the right track with his scoring ability and leadership ability. Protecting Brandon Slater will be important to Colby Jones throughout this time. Eric Dixon’s inner play will be a major factor in helping Villanova slow down Xavier’s inner breach.

This is a great opportunity for Villanova to not find a home win against Xavier.

Prediction: Villanova 74 Xavier 69

(6) Arizona at (19) Tennessee

Arizona

Arizona got off to a great start in year one of the Tommy Lloyd era and had a big road test in Tennessee. Arizona’s attack is very good with scoring threats everywhere. Next, Benedict Mathurin’s length and athleticism are great for Arizona in the open. In addition, the inner play of Christian Koloko and Azuolas Tubelis provided great consistency when playing against each other. Now, Kerr Kriisa has provided very good stability for Arizona and will have a big test against Kennedy Chandler. Arizona’s pace of play has made them one of the most entertaining teams in the country.

Tennessee

A big test for Tennessee puts Arizona in their place. Now, the buzzword for Tennessee is Kennedy Chandler, whose playing and scoring is huge for Tennessee. The two additional wings of Josiah Jordan-James’ Tennessee and Victor Bailey must play well in this match. Also, this will be a big test for John Fulkerson and Olivier Nkamhoua’s Tennessee frontline to deliver. The consistency of the Tennessee attack will go a long way in this game.

Tennessee will take the big win over Arizona with Kennedy Chandler in the lead.

Virginia Tech at (2) Duke

Virginia Technology

Now, Virginia Tech has a chance to prove its place among the best ACC teams against Duke. First, Virginia Tech’s defensive play will make an impression with Storm Murphy’s scoring and scoring ability. Moving on, Nahiem Allyene will play a key role in protecting Wendell Moore throughout this matchup. Next, Hunter Cattoor is an X-factor with his three-point shooting ability. The ability to set up a Keve Aluma will get Virginia Tech’s offensive behavior started. Also, the ability to keep Duke from transition will be important for Virginia Tech to hang in this game.

Duke

Duke will likely become the dominant team in the ACC. For starters, Wendell Moore has excelled on both ends with improved scoring and perimeter defense. Paolo Banchero’s play will set the tone for Duke with his skill set and scoring ability. Beyond that, Trevor Keels will need to continue to show he is capable of being a perimeter scoring threat to match his physicality in other aspects of the game. Jeremy Roach’s playstyle must continue to improve for Duke to reach its potential, and Mark Williams is a force inside Duke on both ends with his engine and efficiency.

Duke will tame Virginia Tech at home with defenses that match their offensive firepower.
